Well hello!
I’m Phil Holm and I specialize in designing information graphics, maps and storytelling designs and UI/UX that delight the masses. I believe that successful design should be intuitive, elegant and meaningful. I enjoy developing visual experiences that make complex information easier to understand. As the Lead Creative for Digital News at the Associated Press, I lead a team of designers and developers in finding creative solutions to our daily and long-term editorial challenges. I've led our crisis mapping initiatives and piloted a data visualization training program for AP text reporters aimed at optimizing production while leveraging subject matter expertise within our visualizations.
Leading by design:
-
I've developed and implemented the AP Digital News team's design system as well as multiple style guides.
-
Launched and designed the new AP brand color palette in collaboration with the Global Creative Director and Brand.
-
Member of the design committee responsible for the creation of AP's own proprietary variable font.
-
Redesigned story article pages and features for the AP's relaunched consumer facing website.
After spending a number of years in Brooklyn and Queens, I now live on Long Island with my husband and our miniature schnauzer, Oliver. I love gaming (always have), being active and cooking. If I won lotto, I would dedicate the rest of my life to helping animals in need.
